August 13, 2024 – West Bend, WI – The 11th annual Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital Derby Weekend hosted by Seoul Creek Farm in West Bend, Wisconsin, was packed with education, fundraising, food, fun,
and of course, derbies galore! The silent auction and Calcutta Team event raised approximately $5,000 for the Wisconsin Equine Education Network (WEEN), which creates educational experiences and supports the growth of the horse industry throughout Wisconsin.
The event started on August 9, 2024, with a day of clinics for all heights with professional Brenda Mueller(West Palm Beach, FL) in the hunter ring and jumper rider/trainer Nick Novak (Antioch, IL) in the jumper ring. Blue Gate Farm sponsored the Most Improved Clinic Rider Award, which went to Annie Farley for the hunters and Braxton DeRuyter for the jumpers.

The evening featured a Pizza Party sponsored by Fromm Grading & Excavating followed by the exciting $500 White Oak Equestrian 4-Bar Challenge. Numerous rounds went by as the jumps went higher and higher, leaving Alexis Bauman with her Christian Gray as the winner.

Saturday, August 10, was a day filled with hunter derbies for all levels. Winners included:
$500 Sparky’s Crossrail Hunter Derby sponsored by Herd of Zebras

The evening was filled with more fun including a Parade of Champions and a Silent Auction. A delicious BBQ was sponsored by Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital. A few memorial words were shared in honor of the original jumper clinician, Nancy Whitehead, for her contributions to the industry and to the lives of many horsemen and women across the country.
Calcutta Teams
The highlight event of the day was the Relay Teams Calcutta, with seven teams completing a hunter round, a jumper round, and an on foot “barrell racing” course in costumes of course, for the win. Thank you to Kyle and Krystal DeRuyter for being the high bidders for the Calcutta and for donating all their winnings back to the Wisconsin Equine Education Network.
Sunday was the Ween Equitation Classic and Jumper Derby Day! The Equitation Classic was a three phase competition that included a horsemanship quiz, the over fences phase, and the flat phase. Scores were added together to determine the winner.
