Congratulations to our members who competed in the 2019 Zone 5 Horsemanship Class!
Special congratulations to Alivia Kohus, the overall winner of the class! Kohus was also the winner of the over fences and flat phases of the class.
"It was unreal," Kohus said about winning the class aboard her horse Cristallo's Carlchen P. "He is so perfect. He's everything and I would not have been able to do it with any other horse or without my trainer or my parents."
Kohus said she participated in the class last year and likes the format.
"I love that it has three parts and three things that we are tested on. It really just shows that you have to know things about your horse in order to be a good rider you can't just go out and just ride."
Northern Pines Farm rider Aristea Santoro took the second place overall spot aboard Poker Face.
Congratulations to Perfecta Farm on having the top three winners in the written test; Maggie Bresch, Natalie Bertoglio and Juliana Gullo.
Christopher Coberley (pictured above) was awarded the Zone 5 Sportsmanship Award in memory of Patricia Haines.
Thank you to our wonderful class sponsors, Dandy Products, Inc., Devoucoux, Kentucky National Horse Show, Personalized Products, Showplace Productions, and the USHJA Zone 5 Committee and donors!
Madison Rheinheimer Awarded $10,000 Zone 5 College Scholarship in Honor of Mindy Darst
Congratulations to Zone 5's Madison Rheinheimer, the 2019 recipient of the $10,000 Zone 5 College
Scholarship in Honor of Mindy Darst.
"I am so excited about receiving this scholarship! It means the world to me to be recognized by the zone I have been a part of for my entire life. I grew up around the people in Zone 5, and I know how talented and amazing they are so I feel very honored to have been chosen," Rheinheimer said.
Rheinheimer is attending Colorado State University and pursuing a degree in English/Writing, Rhetoric and Literacy. Her goal is to become a speech writer/essayist.
"I would love to use that platform to invoke social change and inspire others to think and feel more deeply about what is going on in our day-to-day lives."
Watch for the deadlines to apply for 2020.
