Roscoe, IL – October 5, 2020 – Showplace Productions made the annual Illinois Hunter Jumper Association (IHJA) B Finals Show memorable in classic Showplace style. The year-end event was held in the spacious grand prix ring at Ledges Sporting Horses, October 3-5, 2020, with Showplace’s signature awards, victory gallops and beautiful courses. The final day of the event includes the Chicago Equestrian Hunter Derby Finals, the Showplace Equitation Classic, and the IHJA B Medal Finals. Medal Finals competitors had their chance to shine as they rode for the coveted 2020 championships.

The winner of the ChicagoEquestrian.com Hunter Derby Finals was GG ridden by Carmine D’Aversa  and owned by Ellie McEnery.

The first class to tackle Patrick Boyle’s beautifully decorated derby course was the ChicagoEquestrian.com Hunter Derby Finals. It was Carmine D’Aversa with GG, owned by Ellie McEnery, who rode to the first victory gallop of the finals.  D’Aversa lead after the first round with a score of 92 out of 29 entries, then secured the win in the handy round with a score of 94.

“We knew GG was special the first time we saw her, and we are lucky enough to have an exceptional rider like Carmine to show off her abilities!” said McEnery of the eight-year-old mare that she rides in the Limit Hunters.

Charlotte Boer and Logic won the Leading Overall Score of a Junior Rider in the ChicagoEquestrian.com Hunter Derby Final.

Riding to the award for theLeading Overall Score of a Junior Riderin the finals was Charlotte Boer aboard Logic. Boer rides with trainer Betsy Anderson at Jump 4It Equestrian in Libertyville, Illinois.

“We are thankful to Chicago Equestrian for providing junior riders the opportunity and acknowledgment to ride in these wonderful derbies,” said Anderson.

Ashley Trebatoski earned the Leading Overall Score of an Amateur Rider in the ChicagoEquestrian.com Hunter Derby Final.

Ashley Trebatoski and It’s All About Moxie, earned the award for theLeading Overall Score/Amateur Riderin the derby finalsTrebatoski rides with Sam Gorbette of Gorbette Performance Horses.

“My favorite part about riding in the derby is seeing all the creative ways each course challenges both the horse and rider. In addition, the beautifully decorated jumps turn a normal hunter round into something special. I am honored to have the privilege to participate in such a cool event,” said Trebatoski.

Patrick Boyle presents the Best Turned Out Award to Haley Buchmiller and His Dream.

TheBest Turned Out Award in the derby went to Haley Buchmiller on His Dream, owned by Andrew Pappas.

Leading Horse in the ChicagoEquestrian.com Derby Series was GG, owned by Ellie McEnery.

Awards for the ChicagoEquestrian.com Hunter Derby Series are offered each year to the highest scoring horse and riders. Points are accumulated at all Showplace Productions' B Shows throughout the season.

GG earned the Leading Horse award for her efforts throughout the season. This was not the first Leading Horse award for McEnery as she owned Scout, the leading horse in 2019 also ridden by trainer  D'Aversa.

“I think the derbies are a great class over a challenging course. They test the partnerships between the horses and riders and how well you know your horse’s capabilities with the questions the courses present. GG is talented and great in the derbies because she is adjustable and very handy,” added D’Aversa.

Leading Professional Rider in the derby series was Carmine D'Aversa of Perfecta Farm.

D’Aversa, who trains for Perfecta Farm in Streamwood, Illinois, clinched the Leading Professional Rider award for the series for the third year in a row. She rides several younger horses in the series giving them all valuable mileage for their owners, who can work toward riding in the derbies themselves someday. Since the derby runs various heights, it allows greener riders trying the derby a chance to experience it safely and successfully.

Patrick Boyle presents to Denim Welhouse and Ricky for the win in the Showplace Equitation Classic.

The second victory gallop of the day went to Denim Welhouse aboard Ricky for earning the top spot in the Showplace Equitation Classic. Out of 31 entries, the judge tested the top four with Welhouse returning in first place. She was able to keep her place at the top for the win, with Lexi Rhew finishing in second, Rachel Vande Voort in third, and Lei Schlitz rounding out the top finishers .Equestrianista generously donated the prize.

The day continued with the coveted IHJA B Medal Finals for each division with riders treated to amazing awards and memorable victory gallops. Each division had their chance in the grand prix ring with the top riders working off for the championship title. Showplace Productions does not disappoint at their well-organized events. Usually the finals event is filled with plenty of hospitality and celebration, which unfortunately was on hold this year due to covid-19. Behind the masks were plenty of smiles as exhibitors did their part in fighting the pandemic while celebrating the wins. Congratulations to the 2020 IHJA B Medal Finals winners!
