– Kathleen Caya of Integrity Farm in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, dominated the Bull Run Equestrian Center Hunter Derby Challenge Series at Ledges Sporting Horses in Roscoe, Illinois, by earning the top three spots in the series finale. Showplace Productions hosted the summer series, which offered $22,500 in derby prize money with three $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derbies, one $5,000 and one $10,000 finals derby sponsored by Bull Run Equestrian Center. Caya took the top spot on Susan Schmitt’s Holsteiner mare, Landia 5.
Not only did Caya take the top spot but she also rode to second place on her own Zorro and captured third on McKenna Nagy’s Calvin, fifth on Schmitt’s Scirocco and seventh on Sweet Oak Farm’s Just Kidding, taking home $7,500 in prize money for the day.
“I’m so grateful to have such amazing owners and horses,” said Caya. “I wouldn’t have these great opportunities without them and I want to thank my team who is with me every step of the way along with Bull Run and Showplace Productions for coordinating the series. It was a great opportunity and an amazing event.”
“We love Ledges and Showplace Productions and are happy to support them,” said Lynda Zema, trainer at Bull Run Equestrian Center. “Ledges has been a part of showing in Chicago for a very long time and we are happy to contribute to their great line-up of events. We love the derbies and have sponsored them in the past. Showplace Productions always makes it a great event so we enjoy doing it.” Kathleen Caya and Landia 5. Photo Andrew Ryback Photography
