Maple Park, IL - July 18, 2019 – Trainer Steve Schaefer and Bellis Show Jumping are pleased to announce they are teaming up with Wyndmont Inc.’s Ronnie Beard and Michael Dorman to expand opportunities and promote top horses. The combination of the two businesses will enhance the program of each and offer world-class horses for sale.

Schaefer met up with Wyndmont this past winter and started talking with Beard while Bellis rider Caelinn Leahy rode one of Wyndmont’s horses in the equitation divisions and began the working relationship between the two businesses. All went well and at Tryon Summer, Schaefer was in the irons on more of the Wyndmont string.

“Teaming up with Wyndmont, Ronnie and Michael adds a tremendous amount of depth to both programs and  our philosophy’s blend extremely well,” said Schaefer. “The new team benefits from a collective depth of knowledge and enjoys the spark of youth Caelinn brings to the table. We are pleased to be partners with such talented horsemen.”

Schaefer has a lengthy grand prix resume and didn’t disappoint at the Tryon Summer Shows. Schaefer won 1.30m - 1.35m jumper classes on Meadow Vale Cruise, Favoriet U and Alter Ego for Wyndmont and placed 2nd on Valinski S in the FEI $5,000 Power and Speed Stake week 3 and 2nd in the FEI $36,000 1.45m Sunday Classic week 4. Schaefer also won top ribbons on Frascati and Blossom Z for Wyndmont as well as on his own Zarkava.

Schaefer is known for his ability to execute fast jump offs, which has made him a fan favorite in the Chicago area grand prixs for decades. He has also brought many top riders up through the ranks including Kristen and Josh Vanderveen, Caelinn Leahy, Anna Banks and Taylor McMurtry to name a few.  Schaefer trained Leahy this past winter to earn the title of Leading Junior Rider in the DJS 7-year old Jumpers at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). Bellis Show Jumping is based just west of Chicago and shows at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington during the winter. This was their first trip to Tryon.

Leahy rode Doda Des Brumes for Wyndmont and Roberto Gomez to wins in the WIHS Equitation Hunter phase, the 15-17 Equitation and the ASPCA Maclay Medal during Tryon.

Leahy is also a force to reckon with in the jumper rings. She rode her own Dymendy to victory in the $5,000 Open Welcome Stake and the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur Classic. Leahy will have the opportunity to promote some of Wyndmont’s horses in the junior divisions.

Wyndmont’s horses have a stellar competition record as Beard strategically plans how to bring young horses into the grand prix arenas. Their Valinski S competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics with Matt Williams and the veteran Dutch warmblood, Zephyr, has multiple FEI 5* wins on his ranking sheet.

Beard plans to work with Schaefer and Leahy to reach an international level of competition as well as promote Wyndmont’s string of high caliber horses.

“Wyndmont is looking forward to the new team efforts with Steve Schaefer and Caelinn Leahy in our joint venture. Many plans are in the works for the future,” said Beard.

Beard, of Wyndmont Inc., is a respected trainer and coach with a gift for discovering talented young horses and developing them into international superstars. He is a sought after USEF R-rated judge and has judged all the major equitation finals. Currently, Beard serves on the USEF High Performance Show Jumping Committee, and he is the chairman of the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search Task Force. He contributes countless volunteer hours to the equestrian sport with his work on the USEF Show Jumping Developing Young Rider Task Force, and he was one of the original co-chairmen of the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program.

The new team will be at Equifest in St. Charles, Illinois beginning July 24th. Bellis Show Jumping has limited space available to join the team.
